This is a 9-month Instructor position that reports to the Head of the Department of Agricultural Sciences.
WTAMU is located in the Texas Panhandle, one of the largest cattle feeding areas in the world, producing more than 6 million finished cattle annually, along with substantive cow-calf, stocker cattle, dairy, swine, and equine production.
The area also benefits from a high concentration of allied industries and services such as beef processors, feed manufacturers, renderers, pharmaceutical and biological manufacturers, technical support, and world-class consultants in feedlot health and nutrition.
Existing and potential programs at WTAMU offer opportunities for unique collaborations in the diverse aspects of animal agriculture.
WTAMU is a four-year academic institution with more than 9,000 students including more than 1150 students in the department granting Bachelor, Master of Science, and Doctoral degrees.
Qualifications Show evidence of a M.
S.
, Ph.
D.
, or DVM degree in Animal Science or closely related agricultural based field of study.
Show evidence of being able to meet, interact and communicate with students, colleagues, staff, and the agricultural community.
Show evidence of the ability to effectively communicate in both the oral and written forms.
Show evidence of teaching experience either in formal and/or informal settings.
Responsibilities Teach a minimum of 12 hours per long semester.
Teach in one or more of the following areas based on candidate's
Qualifications:
genetics, nutrition, reproductive physiology, meat science, animal health, or animal management Teaching opportunities may include face-to-face and online formats Work closely with Departmental and other university staff in the academic advising of undergraduate students Serve as a trusted member of the faculty and foster positive relationships with faculty, university and industry partners.
Serve as a role model to all students of the Department of Agricultural Sciences by dressing, speaking and conducting oneself as a professional.
Failure to uphold the highest standards of character, integrity and professionalism both internal and external to the university will result in dismissal.
