Job Description
This position will be responsible for the coordination of the Peer 2 Peer Mentoring/Advising/Tuturing Program and THECB Work-Study Mentoring Programs at West Texas A&M University. The Program Coordinator will assist with the day to day activities of the program and in the training and supervision of student mentors/advisors/tutors. This position will also provide support to the Program Director and help develop student support, professional development, and training materials/activities.
Work Performed:
+ Responsible for coordinating the full range of activities required to run the Peer 2 Peer Mentoring/Tutoring Program.
+ Assist the Director, including: program expansion, identifying partners, securing agreements and resources, and working with internal WT departments, school districts, regional community colleges, organizations, and individuals.
+ Assist in mentoring, training, supervision, and other support for student mentor/tutor-employees, volunteers, student mentees/tutees, and others (including maintaining schedules and organizing events/scheduling).
+ Develop, schedule, and/or participate in seminars, classes, training, publications and other events/outlets to assist the program and support students, parents, personnel, and other groups.
+ Records management, including: compile and synthesize data for reporting, tracking progress, and making adjustments to the program.
+ Participate in training, conferences, and other activities to improve and maintain knowledge of position and field program.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Necessary Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
+ Two years of experience in program development, coordination, or similar area.
+ At least one year of experience in mentoring, tutoring, or advising services.
+ Superior organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
+ Ability to work with diverse groups in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Disciplined self-starter who is goal-oriented with an eye for detail.
+ Ability to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
+ Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
+ Ability to organize information for effective presentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience working in higher education advising or similar field.
+ Bookkeeping and/or budgeting experience.
+ Some supervisory experience.
+ Knowledge of Salesforce, Datatel, and/or AdvisorTrac.
+ Significant knowledge of post-secondary options and processes.
+ Ability to synthesize data and compile reports.
+ Familiar with FERPA laws.
+ Knowledge of grant reporting requirements.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
