The Department of Education at West Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track teaching position as Assistant Professor of Special Education with an emphasis on Specific Learning Disabilities.
The position will remain open until the position is filled. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Position responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in special education with emphasis on Specific Learning Disabilities, Dyslexia, and ADHD. The graduate special education programs are fully online so successful teaching in the online environment is required. Teaching undergraduate courses includes both face-to-face and online formats. Additional responsibilities include advising students, conducting and reviewing scholarly research, active participation in professional organizations, participation in the WTAMU Center for Learning Disabilities, a Texas A&M University Board of Regents designated Center of Excellence and University service.
The candidate will be expected to develop and/or continue an ongoing research agenda in their area of specialization, preferably in the areas of Specific Learning Disabilities, Dyslexia, and ADHD, including regular publication in peer reviewed journals and submission of external grant proposals. The successful candidate will be considered for the Lanna Hatton Endowed Professor of Learning Disabilities. Service on comprehensive examination or thesis committees is required as well as service to the department, college, and community through special education partnerships such as the WTAMU Center for Learning Disabilities. Service in professional organizations related to Learning Disabilities, including reviewing research for possible publication is encouraged.

Necessary Qualifications:
+ Doctorate in special education or related field with an emphasis on Specific Learning Disabilities, Dyslexia, and ADHD.ABD considered with stipulations.
+ State licensure/certification in teaching and three years teaching experience in PK-12 special education.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Specialization in Specific Learning Disabilities from an accredited institution.
+ Texas bilingual certification or eligible for certification in Texas.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
