Job Description
Assistant Professor of Agricultural Education and Leadership, West Texas A&M University, Department of Agricultural Sciences, Canyon, Texas. This is a nine-month, tenure track (Teaching, 70%, Research, 20%, Service, 10%) position that reports to the Head of the Department of Agricultural Sciences.
Work Performed:
+ Develop strong teaching, research and service areas for the Agricultural Education program that focus on Teacher Certification, Extension Education with a heavy focus on Workforce Development for both the youth and adult leader.
+ Teach a 9 hour load (3 courses) each long semester at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
+ Assist area high school Agriculture Science Teachers and County Extension Agents with program development, program delivery, technology development, and communication.
+ Develop curriculum that will lead to certification programs for both youth and adult leaders.
+ Supervise students enrolled in student teaching courses as well as in agricultural internships.
+ Work closely with agricultural industry leaders in assessing regional teaching, research service and work force development needs.
+ Conduct a focused research and scholarly activity program including securing extramural funding in support of the research and scholarly activity program.
Necessary Qualifications:
+ A Doctoral degree in Agriculture Education, Education or closely related field required.
+ Secondary certificate for teacher certification or comparable certificate(s).
+ A minimum of three years teaching experience in secondary Agricultural Sciences.
+ Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching, scholarly activity and public service.
+ Excellent computer, written and oral communication skills.
+ Commitment to an interdisciplinary team approach to education, scholarly activity and public service.
+ Interpersonal skills, vision, and a desire to establish working relationships with external constituents.
+ Working knowledge of crop and livestock industries.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ A minimum of five years teaching experience in secondary Agricultural Sciences.
+ Professional experience in the agricultural industry.
+ Supervisory experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
