The School of Music at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas, has a 32 full-time faculty, 7 part-time faculty, and 300 music majors, and is fully accredited by NASM. It offers Bachelor of Music degrees in performance, music therapy, composition, all-level teaching certification, and music industry. A Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre (NAST accredited) is offered in cooperation with the Department of Art, Theatre and Dance. Graduate degrees include the Master of Arts in Music and the Master of Music in Performance. The University has approximately 10,000 students. Canyon is fifteen miles south of Amarillo (population 210,000) in the Texas Panhandle. This is a tenure-track position.
Work Performed:
+ Teach private voice lessons to undergraduate and graduate students.
+ Direct the opera workshop class and opera performances.
+ Meet departmental and University standards for instructional responsibilities (65), intellectual/creative contributions (25%), and professional service (10%).
+ Other teaching assignments that match the qualifications of the candidate and the needs of the department are possible.
Necessary Qualification:
+ Doctorate in Voice Performance, Pedagogy and/or Opera.
+ Demonstrated high professional standards as a performer and director.
+ Previous teaching experience at the college/university level.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Doctorate in Soprano.
+ Ability to work in a conservatory-like program within the University.
+ Proven successful experience in studio teaching, directing, and recruiting.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
