Job Description
The Financial Practitioner I will be responsible for maintaining student A/R accounts, payment plans and all billing functions. They will work with students to explain student bills and communicate with them such things as payment deadline reminders and other duties as necessary per supervisor.
+ All billing functions related to student accounts (setup & distribution).
+ Maintain payment plan system.
+ Work with students to explain billing questions.
+ Liaison with financial aid, residential living and registrar to ensure that billing works correctly
+ Send e-mail reminders to students when payment is due.
+ Maintains 100% compliance with timely completion of required System, University and job-specific online training courses.
+ Prepare reports required by the state such as IFRS.
+ Post financial aid on a daily basis, review credit balances to ensure accuracy and verify that students with credit balances are enrolled. Mark them for any restrictions that the student may have; coordinate the review process and ensure that they all get refunded in the proper manner.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Necessary Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Seven years of experience in office setting working with Accounts Receivable.
+ PC based spreadsheet applications and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
+ Good oral and written communication skills, effectively interact w/ University community (Students, Staff and Faculty).
+ Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Business related or CIS degree or three years of experience working in Higher Education Accounts Receivable.
+ Three years of business experience working with financial and Student Accounts Receivable data.
+ Ellucian Colleague experience, Accounting & Student Accounts Receivable.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
